The
Heritage that Ties Us Together
Each
one of us has family ties to some who lived before,
Who once were parents, daughters, sons, but now are here no more.
Perhaps you've stood before the graves of loved ones who have
died,
Perhaps you spoke of things once shared; perhaps you only cried.
Perhaps you verbalized your thanks--thanks for your ancestry,
Acknowledging you're but a twig upon the family tree.
I sometimes
think that I hear calls from way across the sea;
Could those be from my deceased kin, who are a part of me?
My grandpa and my grandma lived and loved in days gone by.
I often yearn to see their graves just once before I
die.
But I can't go in person so, instead, I go in spirit,
And when I say, "I love you both," I'm sure that they
can hear it.
